The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles!

The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles is by: Julie Andrews Edwards and is about three siblings Ben,Tom and Lindy Potter.  They meet a professor in the zoo one day and bump into him again on Halloween. As they begin to visit him at his house he tells them of the magical Whangdoodleland, ruled by the last of the whangdoodles. Once the Whangdoodle, and other creatures that are now considered imaginary, lived in our world. However, fearing that people were losing their imaginations in the pursuit of power and greed, the Whangdoodle created a magic and peaceful world over which he reigns.

The professor and the children explore this world. Each time the children return, they venture farther and farther into Whangdoodleland, intending to reach the palace where the Last Whangdoodle resides. However, the Whangdoodle's Prime Minister, the "Oily Prock", does not want them to disturb His Highness, and sets up a number of traps, both in Whangdoodleland and the real world to prevent this meeting.
He enlists the marvelous and funny creatures of the land in his effort, including the High Behind Splintercat the Sidewinders, the Oinck, the Gazooks, the Tree Squeaks, and the Swamp Gaboons. The children use their imaginations, intelligence, and the friendship of another denizen, the Whiffle Bird, to outwit trap after trap, but can they reach the Whangdoodle's castle? Will they be able to see and meet the Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles?

This is a really fun book and I would highly recommend it!

Wicked

Wicked is another one of my (many) favorite musicals.  Wicked is a spin of off  "The Wizard of OZ" by: Frank Baum before Dorothy dropped in.  It tells the viewer of the lives of the two witches~ Glinda the Good and Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West.  It is all about there friendship and what they go through before Dorothy comes.  There are some absolutely breathtaking, goose bump making songs in this show!  On the right side of my blog if you click on "A Sample of My Favorites"  I have three songs from Wicked they are~ "Popular" "Defying Gravity" and "What is This Feeling".  Enjoy the pics and songs!

It's Hairspray!

Hairspray is one of my all time favorite musical theater plays!
It is about Tracy Turnblad's dream to dance on The Corny Collins Show, a local TV dance program based on the real-life "Buddy Deane Show". When Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight. She then launches a campaign to integrate the show.  (Unfortunately there is some minor language, and crude humor in both versions of the movie)    If you go to the right side of my blog below the new poll that I have up you will see  "A Sample of My Favorites"  if you click on it I have the samples for (along with songs from some other plays) two songs from Hairspray.  They are- "It Takes Two" and the Karaoke version of "Good Morning Baltimore".  Enjoy!

Nikki Blonsky as Tracey Turnblad

Zac Efron as Link Larkin
