Humming Room By: Ellen Potter
So I read Sierra Abram's review of this book on her blog @ www.yearningtoread.blogspot.com and I decided to give it a try! HR is a really sweet book! Here is the summary!-
Hiding is Roo Fanshaw's special skill. Living in a frighteningly unstable family, she often needs to disappear at a moment's notice. When her parents are murdered, it's her special hiding place under the trailer that saves her life.
As it turns out, Roo, much to her surprise, has a wealthy if eccentric uncle, who has agreed to take her into his home on Cough Rock Island. Once a tuberculosis sanitarium for children of the rich, the strange house is teeming with ghost stories and secrets. Roo doesn't believe in ghosts or fairy stories, but what are those eerie noises she keeps hearing? And who is that strange wild boy who lives on the river? People are lying to her, and Roo becomes determined to find the truth.
Despite the best efforts of her uncle's assistants, Roo discovers the house's hidden room--a garden with a tragic secret.
Inspired by The Secret Garden, this tale full of unusual characters and mysterious secrets is a story that only Ellen Potter could write.
(Off of Goodreads! ;))
I loved this book! The characters were fun to read about and I think that they even developed some to!! This book was soo sweet! It was an easy read but it held my attention the whole time! The only negative thing I have to say about it is that near the end of the book the uncle is telling the children why he closed the garden. It is supposed to be a very sad emotional part but the uncle seemed to say it with no emotion what so ever, I would go so far as to say it was cold. It's not supposed to be like that. But except for that one part I loved this book!!!!!! I am giving it a 6/10.

Dead End in Norvelt By: Jack Gantos
This morning I finished reading Dead End in Norvelt. Here is the Synopsis!-
Melding the entirely true and the wildly fictional, Dead End in Norvelt is a novel about an incredible two months for a kid named Jack Gantos, whose plans for vacation excitement are shot down when he is "grounded for life" by his feuding parents, and whose nose spews bad blood at every little shock he gets. But plenty of excitement (and shocks) are coming Jack's way once his mom loans him out to help a fiesty old neighbor with a most unusual chore—typewriting obituaries filled with stories about the people who founded his utopian town. As one obituary leads to another, Jack is launced on a strange adventure involving molten wax, Eleanor Roosevelt, twisted promises, a homemade airplane, Girl Scout cookies, a man on a trike, a dancing plague, voices from the past, Hells Angels . . . and possibly murder. Endlessly surprising, this sly, sharp-edged narrative is the author at his very best, making readers laugh out loud at the most unexpected things in a dead-funny depiction of growing up in a slightly off-kilter place where the past is present, the present is confusing, and the future is completely up in the air.
--------------------------------------
So I was in a local book store trying to find some good books to use my gift card on. My mom saw this book and told me I should get. She had read about it online. I read the synopsis and liked the sound of it! So I got it! (Along with the Hunger Games! *I sigh with satisfaction*)
This book was written in a different way than any other book that I had ever read before! Not so much the writing style as what was being written. It didn't have any big action/adventure scenes, but it did have minor conflicts, which was slightly different then anything I had read before! So as strange and uninteresting as that sounds it held my interest from the start and I loved it! It was a very fun read! I really enjoyed reading it and it was a page turner for me!
I would rate it 6-7/10!

Corner of the Universe By: Ann M. Martin
This book has certainly lifted the corners of MY universe!
It is about a 12 year old girl named Hattie. She and her parents run a boarding house in 1960's Millerton. Then the summer that she turns 12 is flipped up-side down when her Uncle Adam who she never knew existed comes to live with his parents (Hattie's Nanna and Poppa) because his 'school' closed. It soon becomes apparent to Hattie that Adam has mental problems. She then goes on the adventure of a life time in which Adam shows her how to "Lift the Corners of her Universe!" It has a shocking end which left me brooding!
I really enjoyed Corner of the Universe! It was a book that told me about a subject that I almost never have thought of... That of people with mental issues. It really was an eye opener for me in many ways. I would definitely recommend it!
Note: There is an instance where one of the borders is in bed with her boyfriend who does not board there. I did appreciate that the author (through the eyes of Hattie) made it clear that it was against what she thought correct.
SPOILER!!!!/Warning!!
Suicide is committed in this book.

Hunger Games Movie
Ok so what should I say? I am speechless! That movie was Remarkable, Fantastic, Incredible, Astounding! I mean really! What can I say that does this move justice!?!?!? Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss), Josh Hutcherson (Peeta), and Liam Hemsworth (Gale), should all be awarded every single 'Best Actor of the Year Award' that was ever created!!!!!!!!!! (if that's even possible...) :-)
Gary Ross did an incredible job with this movie! As it was said in the Hunger Games Illustrated Movie Companion that they -Gary Ross and Suzanne Collins- wanted to be able to keep the intenseness and suspense and action of the book while keeping it appropriate for there target audience--Teenagers. They did that perfectly! The movie did encompass the intense action the sadness and the cruelty of their world while making it just right!
If you have not seen the Hunger Games yet you are missing out on one of the most incredible movies ever made!!!!!!!!
This movie has changed my life! And I know you are probably thinking "ya ya ok whatever" but I am serious! The movie and the book are AWESOME!!!!!
