Sherlock Holmes:A Game of Shadows

Sherlock Holmes:A Game of Shadows

Awesome much?!?!?! Sooo I thought that nothing could top the first Sherlock Holmes movie but I was mistaken. This movie was soooo AMAZING!!! I mean the train scene??? How can you not love it!!! It was stuffed with wit, comedy and action!!! I mean Robert Downy Jr. is Fantastic!! And Jude Law, (Dr. Watson) Noomi Rapace, (Madame Simza) and Stephen Fry (Mycroft Holmes) all AMAZING!!!!! Not to mention Rachel McAdams (Irene Alder) and Kelly Reilly (Mary Watson)!!! The entire cast was just Jaw-Dropping Amazing! Now you are probably asking yourself where does Professor James Moriarty come in... Well... hmm... As amazing a bad guy as Holmes is a good guy?!? Would that encompass for you how incredibly brilliant and evil Moriarty is? I hope so! :)  Oh My Goodness everyone!!! Go see this movie please!!!! :):):)

My favorite character second only to Holmes and Watson!

Thor

Thor. I had high expectations for this movie and I'm afraid that they weren't met. Chris Hemsworth did a good job and so did Natalie Portman. The movie was okay, but it didn't meet my Marvel movie standards as stated in my previous post. There were approximately two and-a-half action scenes in the entire movie!!!  (I counted) And only one of them in my opinion was any good. If you come to watch this movie telling yourself that you are going to hate it then you will be pleasantly surprised but I had just seen Captain America and so my standards were higher then usual. Now I will say that not everything about this movie was negative there were a few funny parts throughout the movie such as when Jane (Portman) hits Thor with her car at least twice and when Thor *asks* for more coffee! Also one more positive-The Gate Keeper. He was AWESOME!!!!! He was my favorite character in the whole movie. He was wise, he was powerful, and he was smart. The perfect combo!

All in all a good family movie if you want to have an evening of fun!

Captain America: The First Avenger

Captain America was the perfect definition of what I think a Marvel movie should be-Packed with action, full of love, and no unrealistic victories. I was a little heart-broken at the ending but I am glad that they kept it from being a goody-goody ooh everyone lives and no-one dies ending. This movie was amazing! There was tons of action but nothing to gruesome or disgusting. I was excited when I heard that Hugo Weaving was the villain because though I have never seen him as the bad guy my dad said that he was a great villain in the Matrix movies and from his portrayal of Elrond in Lord of the Rings I could appreciate his acting skills. Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell were AMAZING!!!! I could go on and on about this movie but please just go see it!!!!!

The Three Musketeers

The Three Musketeers is one of the best movies this year!!! The action was brilliant and the Musketeers were... well... At the beginning of the movie they were not nearly as gentlemanly as I  had expected, but that did not take away from how Awesome they were! (By the end end of the movie they were far more gentlemanly anyway!) This movie was packed with action but it also had some sentimental moments! A couple of months ago Sierra @ Yearning to Read did a review on the TM and she loved it! But even if she had said nothing at all about what she thought of the movie there was one picture that she put up that stole my heart and is now one of my favorite pictures EVER!
Here it is! (and if this doesn't' steal your heart -boys not included- I am so sorry for you.... ;))

I am so jealous of you Constance!

Logan Lerman and Matthew MacFadyen along with the rest of the Musketeers were amazing! The reason MacFadyen stood out to me is that I loved his acting in the 2005 Pride and Prejudice as Darcy. He was the only person who I thought was any good in that movie. (sorry Knightly fans) And then Logan Lerman... What can I say? Who can watch this movie and not fall in love with him? Much to the shock of my little sister, Ava, he is right up there with Josh Hutcherson for me! :) (in acting and looks) :)

This movie was Awesome! A really fun movie and very clean, except, as Sierra put it- A few hilariously placed cuss words and chest-showing damsels in distress!

A must watch movie!!!!!

An Update...

So I wanted to update you all on my book list status.
I finished Murder at Midnight but want to finish Midnight Magic so that I can do those reviews right after each other. I read the first few pages of Smugglers Island By:Avi and put it down. It was just not interesting for me. If you have a ten year old sibling they might enjoy it but I just didn't even want to finish it because the reading was so easy and the story wasn't interesting. (that is just my personal opinion and you may disagree.) I am still planning on reading Blue Heron. I noticed that I had made a silly mistake for the book Lord Kirkle's Money is the sequel to another book. I am not going to read that series right now but I may come back to it later. I read The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle and so there will be a review on that soon!

Many more reviews to come!

P.S.If I ever sign my name as FAD I am doing it because those are my initials! :)

See ya,

Review-Percy Jackson and the Olympians-The Lightning Theif By: Rick Riordan

The Lightning Thief By: Rick Riordan

Summary-
I'm afraid that every summary I found online spoiled what happens in the story and I am awful at writing that sort of thing myself so if you want to know what happens I have a secret way to tell you..... *psst over here*    READ THE BOOK!!! :)

My Thoughts-
I have wanted to read this book ever since I read Riordan's other series (all but the last book) called the Kane Chronicles. I love mythology of any kind and the KC books are packed with Egyptian mythology, which I understood and enjoy since I have learned about Ancient Egypt twice in my schooling life. Because I loved the KC's so much and I loved Greek mythology too I was pretty sure I would love the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series! As far as the first book goes I have not been disappointed!

Character Notes-
Percy had been diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia. Those are two tough things to live with, as you can see by the fact that Percy has been kicked out of 6 schools! Percy's friend Grover is kind, submissive, and loyal. He is the only person who understands Percy and doesn't dismiss him as a dork or a lazy lame'o. Turn's out Grover is a satyr, (For Narnia fan's that is a fawn) and though Percy felt like he was the one protecting Grover turns out Grover is the one who is looking out for Percy! (Find out how by reading the BOOK!!!:))  Annabeth- Witty, Beautiful, Strong, has Percy as a friend, I mean how can you go wrong? Luke- Dashing, Scarred, Hint-(Masked)-Hint. Chiron- Awesome! (I mean come on he's a centaur!!) Wise, Powerful. And last but not least Percy's Mother- Strong in mind and body, faithful and patient.

Story Notes-
Love the story!!! I started Lightning thief and really enjoyed it, I finished Lightning Thief and could not wait to get my hands on the next book!!!! The characters developed some but not as much as I would have wanted if this were a one book series but since I know that there are four books to go I know that Percy and his friends have plenty of time to change and mature. Overall loved it!

Summing It Up-
I loved the book and can't wait to read the rest of the series and watch the *movie!

*(I'm a sucker for Logan Lerman) :) *blush*

A review of The Sea of Monsters, The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, The Three Musketeers, Captain America, Thor and Murder at Midnight/Midnight Magic in the near future!

Review-The Name of This Book Is Secret By:Pseudonymous Bosch

Hello Everyone!
So I mentioned in an earlier post that I wanted to have more of a structure for my book reviews and I looked around at the blogs that I am following and found that I really liked how Sierra @ Yearning to Read set up her reviews. They are easy to understand and they cover all the aspects of the book from its structure to its enjoyability. So I am going to do my review today using the same structure.
The Name Of This Book Is Secret By:Pseudonymous Bosch

Summary-
The story starts when real-estate agent for the dead named Gloria finds a mysterious box in a magician's house called, The Symphony of Smells, and gives it to Cass and her substitute grandfathers. Cass is an outcast misfit in her school until she stumbles across another misfit, Max-Ernest, who talks too much and has divorced parents but who are still living in the same house.

Cass and Max-Ernest become collaborators and investigate the dead magician's - Pietro Bergamo - house only to get caught by a young couple; but not before they find a mysterious journal hidden in a secret room.

(From wikipedia)

My Thoughts-
I've been wanting to read this book for a while now and was excited to finally get it from the library!
This book is really cute! It is a juvenile book and so the writing style was almost to easy for me to enjoy but I still did! The plot was interesting and involved Ancient Egyptian Mythology!!! (I love Ancient Egypt!) *Smile*
Another thing that I enjoy in lots of books that was amplified in this book is the whole idea of 'don't read about this secret' 'it will put you in danger' sort of thing. I think that style is cute and enjoyable to read about!

Character Notes-
Cassie is a 'misfit' at school and she always predicts disasters. (few of which actually happen) Max-Earnest is fed up with trying to find a joke that is funny. N. D. Wilson said on his website that one of the things you want to do when creating a character is to give them a certain trait that is unique to them, such as liking beetles or disliking paintings. Any quirky trait that defines your character. Max-Earnest's is lame jokes, Cass's is being a survivalist. I personally don't think that those were the best or most realistic choices to go with. I mean survivalist? It just doesn't seem that likely. But back to Cass. She did a great job with the talents given her and did her best to make it work. The "collaborating" between Cass and Max is cute and their friendship is unique and interesting.

Story Notes-
Overall this book's writing style was really easy for me to read, (it was a juvenile reading level) but the story was cute and I am looking forward to reading sequel!

Summing It Up-
This is a sweet book! The characters developed very little throughout the book but I was satisfied that they did at all! I loved the touch of Egypt that Bosch added to the book and overall I enjoyed it! 3/5 Stars.

For The Parents-
This is a section that I won't need to use very often since the books that I read and review are usually for a younger age group then that which Sierra reviews, but just so you all know it is here and I will use it when needed!

What do you think of the new (borrowed) setup? Let me know in the comments!
